London – October 25, 2012: Serving the South West of England, with nine branches across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, Mole
Valley Farmers is the UK’s largest rural retailer, and has had a dedicated renewables sector since 2011. The division, Mole Energy, has an exclusive relationship to supply REC solar modules.
Pierre Cesbron, Business Development Manager UK, REC, commented: “Steve is a pioneer in the farming world; his passion for the use of renewable energy for farming is inspiring. All at REC congratulate Steve on his most deserved win as Green Farmer of the Year.”
REC has supplied Mole Energy over 25,000 solar modules, with a combined energy output of over six MW.
Steve Edmunds, Director of Mole Energy, commented: “We chose REC to supply our solar modules because they offer the best performance in real world conditions. They ticked all the boxes for our supplier needs – as a vertically integrated manufacturer REC places a strong focus on quality, excellent customer service, and value for money.”
He added: “We only supply REC modules, and we are really pleased with the results. Feedback has been hugely positive, and the photon results have proven quality of the product.”
Steve Edmunds’s award as Green Farmer of the Year recognises his long-standing passion for renewable technologies, including solar. He built a renewable demonstration site on his family farm in Somerset, for which 90 kW of ground-mounted solar modules replaced 50 percent of imported power for the 200 cow dairy unit, three farm dwellings and a neighboring poultry unit.
Steve built the system himself, and was the first person in the country to receive planning for ground-mounted solar modules. His arrays produce 21 percent more power than their predicted output.
